Elevator Pitch

 Here is my elevator pitch.

Genius Hour Week 2

I have decided to focus on learning to play the guitar. The first challenge was finding a guitar to play since buying one seemed like an expensive investment. I was lucky enough to have a friend who had an extra one he can let me borrow. He also told me how much it cost and now I’m very paranoid about it.  I started by watching youtube videos and made sure I typed in beginner because searching just guitar playing was very overwhelming. I found plenty of resources on youtube but also decided to download an app called simply guitar. The app started off great by assessing my guitar level which was 0, but no surprise there. The app is great with awesome graphics and is user friendly. Not sure if this is a good thing in the long run or not but the guitar player app makes me complete certain tasks to get to the next level. I completed the first level and I feel confident about learning how to play. Another hurdle I had to jump was finding a spot to practice my guitar without my kids...

Genius Hour Week 1

I found it very difficult to find ideas for Genius hours. I even asked my wife for ideas but she also found it difficult. Who knew trying to figure out what you are passionate about was so difficult. I teach Spanish so I might want to look for a book I can incorporate into my lessons. Finding time to read will be my biggest challenge with my boys doing many summer activities, my grad classes, summer trips etc. Learning French Another passion of mine is world languages. I speak Spanish fluently but have always been interested in French. As a language teacher I en...

Intro Blog (Engaging e-Learning)

Hello everyone, I look forward to working with all of you this summer. My name is Jose Garcia and I am currently a Spanish Teacher in district 204. I teach Spanish 3 and 4 honors at Waubonsie Valley high school and this will be my 14th year. We have been pretty lucky at WV to provide all the students with a chromebook or as the students call it "chromie".  I have used a wide array of applications, but mainly google. I would like to see what other options I may have that is not google related. I was forced to learn quickly how to create videos and other online video tools during our quarantine and hybrid model but feel like I just scratched the surface. I would like to see how I can develop my skills through these classes.  As a long time soccer coach for WV it would be great to incorporate some technology into my training sessions. I have seen some creative ways to train online and would be interested in how someone can accomplish this.  Finally, I enjoy technology ...
