I have decided to focus on learning to play the guitar. The first challenge was finding a guitar to play since buying one seemed like an expensive investment. I was lucky enough to have a friend who had an extra one he can let me borrow. He also told me how much it cost and now I’m very paranoid about it.
I started by watching youtube videos and made sure I typed in beginner because searching just guitar playing was very overwhelming. I found plenty of resources on youtube but also decided to download an app called simply guitar. The app started off great by assessing my guitar level which was 0, but no surprise there. The app is great with awesome graphics and is user friendly. Not sure if this is a good thing in the long run or not but the guitar player app makes me complete certain tasks to get to the next level. I completed the first level and I feel confident about learning how to play.
Another hurdle I had to jump was finding a spot to practice my guitar without my kids or wife getting annoyed with me playing the same chord for 15 minutes. I decided that the basement is the best option for me. I am playing the guitar for about 20 minutes a day and hope to know chord basics by the end of the week.
Thanks for sharing, Jose. Looks like you and Eric have the same genius hour. Wonder if you two could share some learning!
ReplyDeleteIf I were to choose an instrument to play, the guitar and piano would be my 2, with guitar probably being number 1. It is portable and once you know the chords it is a lot easier than piano. Do you have any musical background in chords or are you learning everything right now?
ReplyDeleteHi Jose, Is it difficult to learn off of youtube? I always wanted to try to learn to play the chords, but my fingers cannot process the them and play at the same time. What type of music or songs are you trying to play.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, Jose! I found the chords hard to remember. I can't wait to see how you will progress as time goes on! Keep up the great work!
