Artifacts that impacted me the most (Multimedia Tools in Education)

Video book trailer: using animoto

I have used videos in the past but never videos I created myself. This was the first video I ever created from start to beginning. I did not know how much work goes into making and editing a video. I faced many challenges through this not knowing how to edit or getting my creative juices flowing. The hardest part was finding inspiration to come up with something creative. I would not call myself a Steven Spielberg and my video will show that but I can appreciate what filmmakers go through. It takes effort to come up with an idea and then use it in a creative and entertaining way.

I learned to appreciate artistry and creativity in a video. I will be assigning videos to my students and I will definitely appreciate the effort they put into those a bit more. In the future I will be creating videos for my students and hopefully getting in touch with my creative side more. I have also become more comfortable in front of the camera. I got extremely self conscious on camera but found it easier and easier as I started recording more videos.

This assignment really inspired me to be more creative with my next artifact which is the capstone project.

Capstone project: using we video

This was my favorite assignment through this course. It not only helped me understand We video more and how video can make an impact on my students but on a more personal level. As I worked on this project I found myself and family connecting and reminiscing about the past. I heard stories that I have never heard before and my sons heard stories about me and my family when I was younger.

I spent hours looking at old photos and listening to my father tell his stories. This is something we have not done before and the best part of this is that my sons were there to listen and reminisce with me. They heard of the struggle “abuelito” had to take to give his family a better life. Creating this video helped me appreciate what I have and it helped my sons understand how lucky we are to have what we have.

Genius Hour-Expect Mutiny

This week has been a struggle to find time. We had family come from out of town and I found it very difficult to find time to practice. I had many hiccups this week actually. I decided to do a 7 day free trial on the guitar app I was using and accidently hit a 3 month subscription that cost $75. I am still waiting to see if Apple refunds me my money. Honestly, I would not mind if they do not because it is a very useful app to help me practice my guitar playing.  I also have decided to learn a new song Nirvanas-Come as you are. I found a free lesson on Youtube and that is what I have focused most of my time on. I have gotten pretty good at the first couple of notes but not very consistent. I hope to improve my consistency by next week.  I hope to have a video of me playing some of this song next week. Practice makes perfect.
